Off-cuts recycling propels Linney Cooper's drive for sustainability
Carpet Recycling UK member Linney Cooper is a domestic and commercial carpet retailer and contractor with premises in Llandudno, Chester and London. The company, also a member of the AIS/Flooring One buying group, is now recycling its carpet fitting waste in partnership with CRUK member Anglo Recycling.
Carpet off-cuts are collected when Anglo Recycling makes deliveries of recycled felt underlay and this use of reverse logistics keeps haulage costs down. The partnership is working well with the felt underlay proving popular with customers and fitters. To recycle even more of its carpet waste, the company is analysing bulking, storage and transport options for uplifted carpet, for which it hopes to secure an outlet in the near future.
Peter Steel, Operations Manager at Linney Cooper commented: "Recycling is part of our sustainability programme. When we talk to our retail customers, the recycling of off-cuts can create a favourable impression. In the commercial sector our sustainability can be an important factor in gaining business."
