The Carpet Recycling UK annual member awards offer an opportunity to recognise and reward companies and organisations who are taking voluntary action in the best way to drive and demonstrate sustainability in the carpet and textile flooring sector. They are helping the sector to reduce waste and use textile flooring waste as a resource.

Entering our annual awards demonstrates how sustainability is embedded in your working practices and how you are supporting the sector.

Award criteria: Reuse is top of the waste hierarchy. Not only does it provide the best environmental option for textile flooring, it provides important social benefits. This award is open to members that can demonstrate successful take back and reuse of carpet tiles and other modular flooring from construction and refurbishment projects.

Applicable to:
• Organisations accepting waste textile flooring (eg surplus and graded used carpet tiles and planks, broadloom and rugs)
for cleaning, grading and re-sale.

Award criteria: This award is open to members that have developed and are continuing to develop new systems and processes to recycle textile flooring waste including   production waste (eg edge trims, yarn, cone ends, surplus stock) and or post-consumer waste (eg fitting offcuts, uplifted carpet, carpet tiles, rugs and underlay).

Applicable to:
Recyclers accepting texting flooring waste for reprocessing
Manufacturers developing novel processes to reduce textile flooring waste and to reuse as much manufacturing waste into new products

Award criteria: An award for a member that has successfully worked and is continuing to work with the supply chain to reuse and recycle textile flooring.  This could include production waste (eg edge trims, yarn, cone ends, surplus stock) and or post-consumer waste (eg fitting offcuts, uplifted carpet, carpet tiles, rugs, underlay).

Manufacturers
• Distributors
• Flooring Contractors
• Retailers

Award criteria: Successful recycling within a company is often driven by an enthusiastic individual ‘Recycling Champion’ who is committed to waste minimisation, recycling and ensures that everyone within the company is aware of systems that have been put in place. This award will go to a member of staff who has worked hard and shown commitment within a company to set up systems and processes to reduce the volume of production waste (eg edge trims, yarn, cone ends, surplus stock) and or post-consumer waste (eg fitting offcuts, uplifted and surplus stock).

Applicable to:
Individuals from across the supply chain who are going the ‘extra mile’ to ensure as much carpet as possible is recycled.

Award criteria: This award is open to all members who can demonstrate their overall approach towards the Circular Economy.  The winning entry will consider all aspects of planning and designing products with circularity in mind which includes reusing production waste back into new products. .  Integration of the supply chain and collaborative working also need to be considered.  The Judges will be looking at how challenges are addressed, how the supply chain is involved and how emerging technologies are utilised.  Emphasis on waste reduction technologies, process innovation, repurposing and material reductions are key.

Applicable to:
Manufacturers and Raw Material Suppliers of textile flooring products such as carpet tiles, planks, rugs, broadloom and underlay.

Entrants must be a member of Carpet Recycling UK and all entries must be submitted by Friday 5th May.

Winners are chosen based on reuse and recycling achievements, commitment to increased recycling and circularity within products , innovation and raising awareness of your drive towards sustainability. Please provide as much information as possible, which is relevant to the criteria given.

Winners will be announced and presented at an Awards Ceremony to be held at the Carpet Recycling UK Conference Evening Dinner and Awards at voco St Johns Hotel in Solihull on 21st June 2023.
