This year Carpet Recycling UK is doubling its efforts to raise retailer awareness of the business case for recycling, hosting two seminars at the Harrogate Flooring Show.
CRUK Scheme Manager Jane Gardner will open both sessions with an overview of sector achievements and new opportunities, including the growing demand for clean post-installation offcuts.
On Sunday 18th September, Simon Wells of CRUK member Kenburn Waste Management will outline how compaction equipment has cut waste carpet transportation costs, making recycling an effective option for several CRUK retailer members to date.
At the second session on Tuesday 20th September, Peter Steel from CRUK member Linney Cooper will share his flooring company’s successes in recycling offcuts and uplifted carpets, achieving a cut in waste disposal costs whilst meeting growing market sustainability demands.
Jane Gardner commented: “As recycling outlets increase, so do the possibilities and cost incentives for flooring suppliers to divert waste carpet from landfill. By sharing our members’ experiences we aim to widen understanding of the potential cost savings and customer service benefits of carpet recycling.”
